On 24 October, the DYPALL Network brought together students from Pinheiro Rosa High School for an exciting local citizenthon in Faro, Portugal. This event, part of the Erasmus+ European Future Citizens project, was all about inspiring young people to step up and help build more sustainable cities.
Exploring Big Ideas
The day kicked off with a deep dive into the goals of the European Future Citizens project. Participants got a behind-the-scenes look at the capacity-building programme developed by partners from across Europe. It was all about sparking ideas and showing how youth can make a real difference in their communities.
Battling Misinformation – Game On!
In the afternoon, things got hands-on. Everyone joined an urban game designed to tackle one of four areas of the game and one of today’s biggest challenges: misinformation. It was fun, engaging, and a great way to learn how to sort fact from fiction while working as a team.
By engaging young people in creative and collaborative processes, the local citizenthon in Faro marked an important step toward empowering the next generation to lead Europe into a more sustainable future.
Gearing Up for the Big Event
After wrapping up the urban game, participants got an exclusive invite to the European Citizenthon, held on 15-16 November. This international event brought together young people from all partner countries to co-create the Manifesto of European Future Citizens—a game-changing document filled with bold ideas and solutions for making cities greener, smarter, and more inclusive.
A Team Effort Across Europe
The European Future Citizens project is led by FO-Aarhus (Denmark) in collaboration with DYPALL Network (Portugal), Fundația Centrul Educațional Spektrum (Romania), Consorzio Materhub (Italy), Pot in Pot (Italy), and the Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (Estonia). The initiative is co-funded by the European Union, underscoring its commitment to fostering active citizenship across the continent.
